Fleetwood Town 4-1 Bath City

Fleetwood Town extended their winning streak to three games after a 4-1 thrashing of Bath City at Highbury Stadium on Saturday.

Jamie Vardy netted a brace for the hosts while Jamie McGuire and Gareth Seddon joined in on the action with a goal apiece. Paul Stonehouse's solitary strike for the visitors was not enough to influence the result on the day.

The Romans did well in the opening 20 minutes, but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal and instead conceded two minutes before the break as Jamie Milligan's corner found an unmarked McGuire, who headed home.

In first-half stoppage time Vardy slotted his first of the game as he made his way down the left before finding the back of the net with a shot across goalkeeper Glyn Garner.

Bath pulled one back in the 73rd minute when Stonehouse powered home after substitute Ben Swallow played it back towards his team-mate.

However, Seddon negated the strike with a goal for the Fishermen in the 83rd minute. Vardy provided the cross from the left and Seddon poked home.

The victory was complete as Vardy bagged his brace in stoppage time. A shot by Jamie Milligan was nodded into the back of the net by the lively forward to secure the points.

Fleetwood are second in the standings after the win, only two points behind Wrexham, while Bath remain rooted to the bottom of the table with only seven points.

Fleetwood bookings: Brown, Wassmer, Milligan, Vardy.

Bath bookings: Rollo.
