Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

League leaders Eastbourne Borough saw their advantage at the top of the table reduced to just one point after slipping to defeat against mid-table Bromley.

Bognor Regis Town 2-0 Weston-Super-Mare

Bognor Regis Town earned themselves some breathing room in the bottom half of the Blue Square South table after easing to victory against fellow strugglers Weston-Super-Mare.

The Rocks were gifted the lead after 24 minutes when midfielder Ian Herring put the ball past his own goalkeeper.

Weston looked unable to recover from that early setback and went further behind just one minute after the restart when forward Dan Beck snuck in and scored his side's second goal.

Braintree Town 2-1 Welling

Braintree Town kept their promotion play-off dreams alive with a narrow win over relegation-threatened Welling at Cressing Road.

The home side were awarded a penalty in the 40th minute and Bradley Quinton made no mistake with the resulting spot kick.

The Wings restored parity two minutes after the restart thanks to Sonny Cobbs and Quinton pooped up again with a 70th minute goal to restore the hosts' lead.

Cambridge City 3-0 Maidenhead Utd

Cambridge City further distanced themselves from the relegation zone with a comfortable victory over strugglers Maidenhead at City Ground.

All three goals came in the second period and Cambridge claimed the lead just three minutes after the restart thanks to Nick Mountford.

Michael Gash coolly slotted home a 76th minute penalty before Josh Simpson netted City's third goal with a 85th minute effort.

Dorchester 1-0 Basingstoke

Relegation-threatened Dorchester Town enhanced their chances of survival with a narrow win against Basingstoke Town at the Avenue Stadium.

Dorchester Nicolas Eastham netted after just eight minutes to give his side the lead and they managed to hold on until the final whistle.

The Magpies still find themselves in the dreaded drop zone but the three points gained on Saturday afternoon will do a world of wonder for their confidence.

Eastbourne Borough 1-2 Bromley

Eastbourne Borough's promotion plans hit a snag at Langley Sport club on Saturday as they slipped to a defeat at the hands of play-off chasers Bromley.

The match was closely contested and only produced a goal after 72 minutes of play.

Bromley's Luke Ianson netted the opener and Eastbourne's Mark Armstrong netted an injury-time equaliser only for Mark De Bolla to restore his side's advantage a minute later.

Fisher Athletic 0-3 Hampton & Richmond

Hampton & Richmond Borough strengthened their promotion credentials with a comfortable win over play-off hopefuls Fisher Athletic at Surrey Docks Stadium.

Canadian-born striker Elliott Godfrey put the visitors ahead on the half-hour mark with a well-placed penalty and netted his second five minutes after the restart.

The visitors continued to push for the knockout punch and finally landed it in the 86th minute when Stuart Lake put the finishing touches on a well-worked move.

Hayes & Yeading 2-2 Bishop's Stortford

Bishop's Stortford twice came from behind to earn a point at Hayes & Yeading's Church Road ground.

Hayes & Yeading were awarded a penalty in the after just a handful of minutes and Nevin Saroya calmly slotted the resulting spot kick past the 'keeper.

The Bishops drew level in the 41st minute thanks to Ahmed Deen only for Steve Perkins to restore the home side's lead just one minute later.

The visitors battled for much of the second period and finally got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 77th minute when Greg Pearson netted the all-important equaliser.

Newport County 1-2 Eastleigh

Eastleigh maintained their promotion push with a hard-fought victory over Newport County at Newport Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors opened their account in the 20th minute thanks to Mark Marshall and Newport drew level 11 minutes later when Paul Cochlin found the back of the net.

The Spitfires reclaimed the lead when Southampton-born striker Paul Sales fired in an 80th minute winner.

Despite the defeat Eastleigh are still in the running for a promotion play-off place, as they have two games in hand and trail fifth place by just three points.

Sutton Utd 0-3 Lewes

Lewes closed the gap on leaders Eastbourne with a comfortable win against rock-bottom Sutton at the Borough Sports Ground.

The visitors opened their account when Ian Simpemba found the back of the net after 24 minutes and doubled their tally just four minutes later through top scorer Paul Booth.

Jamie Cade netted Lewes' third goal in the 39th minute to put the result beyond doubt.

Thurrock 1-1 St Albans

Thurrock scored a late equaliser to earn a share of the spoils with relegation-threatened St Albans at Ship Lane.

The Saints broke the deadlock after just seven minutes thanks to Paul Hakim and looked to be heading for a narrow win.

However, with the final whistle looming, Fleet's Fola Orilonishe netted a dramatic equaliser to help his side earn a point.
