Nyewood Lane
Blue Square South outfit Bognor Regis Town have branded speculation of a takeover of the club as highly premature.
Two businessmen who are believed to be interested in buying the club have met with general manager Jack Pearce in recent weeks.
But the Nyewood Lane club have quashed the rumours which state that the businessmen are part of a consortium run by a former manager.
The rumours started after manager Michael Birmingham revealed that he would not work with a member of the speculated consortium.
Birmingham told the Observer: "I won't work with one of the people who is in the consortium.
"It would be tough to walk away after fourteen years because I love the club to bits.
"But I'd rather keep Bognor up and walk away with my head held high.
"I could be looking for a new club next season. All Jack said to me and Darin Killpartrick when we took over from him was to keep the club up. Nothing else was agreed."
The Rocks are keen on new investment and are hoping to launch a share issue to raise funds of up to £250,000, but there have been some legal issues which have prevented this from materialising.
