Dorchester release Evans and Khalil

Relegated Blue Square South side Dorchester Town have decided to release goalkeeper Simon Evans and midfielder Tareq Khalil with immediate affect.

19-year-old goalkeeper Evans suffered a rupture to the medial ligament in his knee back in February and is due to undergo surgery.

The operation is likely to keep him out of the game for the majority of 2008 and the Magpies have opted to pay out the remainder of his contract.

Evans joined the Magpies at the beginning of last season and in almost two years with the club made 46 first-team appearances.

Also leaving the County Town side is 22-year-old midfielder Khalil.

The former AFC Bournemouth and Cardiff player joined the Magpies on non contract terms in December last year from Southern Premier Division side Merthyr Tydfil but has failed to earn a new contract.

During his time in Dorset Khalil made 11 appearances scoring 1 goal, a memorable effort against Cambridge City.
