Matthews joins Hawks on loan

Blue Square Premier side Salisbury City have given permission for striker Robbie Matthews to join Blue Square South club Havant & Waterlooville on loan.

The 6 ft 2 in striker links up with Shaun Gale's squad on a six-week deal and has already made 12 first-team appearances for the Whites in the Blue Square Premier this term.

Salisbury-born Matthews was made available by Salisbury boss Nick Holmes this week along with Andy Sandell and Matt Tubbs despite being key players for the club.

Holmes told the Salisbury Journal: "I'm very upset to have to ask Andy, Robbie and Matt to leave the club - be it for the short term or long term.

"It's not for football reasons. It's purely down to our financial situation. What manager would put three of his best players up for grabs?

"It's not something I want to do but it's time to take action."
