Maidenhead United have secured the services of goalkeeper Steve Smith on a game-by-game basis to ease their goalkeeping woes.
The Magpies boss Johnson Hippolyte was forced to bring in the 25-year-old after first-choice goalkeeper Shane Gore sustained an injury in last Saturday's 4-1 home defeat against Eastleigh.
Gore has strained his hamstring and Hippolyte believes back-up Warren Carter is too inexperienced.
Hippolyte told the Maidenhead Advertiser: "Shane Gore picked up a hamstring strain so I've brought in a new keeper for a little while as cover.
"We've signed keeper Steve Smith. He's played for teams like Hemel Hempstead Town and Stevenage Borough.
"Our young keeper, Carter, while we know he's going to be a big keeper in the future, at the moment we think it'd be putting too much pressure on his shoulders to come in against Newport."
