Knight: We deserve some credit

Dorchester Town manager Alan Knight is determined to prove his side's run of form is not just a chance occurrence when they meet Dover Athletic on Saturday.

The Magpies have lost only one out of their last 13 Blue Square Bet South games and are three points away from the top five.

Some have suggested that Dorchester's position in the standings is not a true reflection of their strength, since they have played more games than anyone else in the league.

However, the Magpies boss is keen to rubbish those claims and told the Dorset Echo: "I have said to the guys that the results they have picked up should make people sit up and take notice.

"I don't think a lot have as they probably think this is just a fluke. We need to use that to drive us on and prove there is nothing flukey about what we are doing and that we are a decent side."

Knight believes the upcoming tie with Dover is a good opportunity for his team to prove their mettle.

He added: "They are a big club for this division and it'll give us an indication of how far we have come.

"Woking will go up and I believe Dover will be there or thereabouts come the shake-up.

"If we can get a positive result against a definite play-off side, prior to our little break, it will do us good.

"Like the Eastbourne game, tomorrow is another game where we will look to right a few wrongs.

"First games of the season are always strange but to lose 4-0 is never good. Tomorrow will be a good test for us but we just want to try and keep things rolling.

"Hopefully we will give an honest performance and if we go out and give it our all, that's all I can ask."
