Farnborough manager Spencer Day is hoping to secure the signature of an unnamed player after missing out on Kingstonian striker Bobby Traynor.
Traynor was poised to return to Cherrywood Road this week after a brief spell at the club back in 2005.
However, the 28-year-old has had a change of heart and has decided to see out his contract with the Ks.
A club statement read: "Whilst the management is disappointed we only want players here that really want to play for Farnborough so we wish Bobby well and move on.
"We are hopeful that our number one player target will be signing later today and will be announced later."
Day is aiming to bring in a new face ahead of Saturday's crunch clash with Welling United at Park View Road.
The player is believed to be an experienced midfielder.
