Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

With a host of FA Cup taking place on Saturday afternoon, only seven Blue Square South fixtures were played.

Basingstoke 1-2 Bishop's Stortford

Bishops Stortford closed the gap on Eastbourne Borough after securing all three points against Basingstoke on Saturday.

Matthew Warner opened the scoring for the Dragons in the 5th minute of the game, but the visitors always looked to be in the game.

Jack Midson equalised for Bishops in the 70th minute, while substitute Ben Townsend had a night he would wish to forget.

With both teams looking certain to share in the spoils, Townsend netted a match-winning own goal for the visitors in the 82nd minute.

Bognor Regis Town 3-0 Hayes and Yeading

Hayes and Yeading were completely mauled over at Nyewood Lane, bolstering the Rocks to 18th position in the league.

The 365 match attendee's were treated to three goals by the home team who extended their unbeaten streak to 5 games.

Chris Breach opened the scoring in the 45th minute, followed by a Dan Beck strike 10 minutes later.

The visitors never looked like netting at Nyewood Lane and Mark Knee rubbed salt into Hayes and Yeading wounds with a 90th minute effort to mount three goals and three points for the Rocks.

Cambridge City 2-2 Thurrock

Cambridge City staged a wonderful comeback from two goals down, to claim a draw with Thurrock at the City Ground.

The visitors took a first-half two-goal lead thanks to goals from Greg Lincoln and David Bryant and looked to be heading for an away win.

However, the home side came flying out of the blocks after the break with Lee Roach and Mark E'Beyer finding the net to make it 2-2.

Dorchester 0-0 Welling

Dorchester and Welling played to a goalless draw at the Avenue Stadium on Saturday afternoon in front of 121 football fans.

Eastleigh 1-4 Bromley

The Ravens recorded an impressive victory over Eastleigh at Silverlake Stadium on Saturday with a feast of goals on offer for the 659 football fans present.

The visitors opened their account in the 32nd minute through Tulu Henriques and Sam Wood doubled their lead just two minutes later.

Bromley made it 3-0 on the hour mark thanks to a McDonnell goal before Williams slotted home their fourth. Damian Scannell reduced the deficit in the 80th minute but it was nothing more than a consolation as Bromley held on for a comfortable win.

Fisher Athletic 0-0 St Albans

Relegation-threatened St Albans did well to record a draw with Fisher Athletic at Surrey Docks Stadium. Despite being the away team, the Saints managed to keep a clean sheet and collect a much-needed point.

Sutton Utd 0-3 Braintree Town

The Iron moved up to ninth place on the Blue square South table on Saturday with a comfortable win over Sutton United at the Borough Sports Ground.

Chris Sullivan broke the deadlock in the 10th minute and Sutton's Craig Tanner scored an own goal on the hour mark to make it 2-0.

Leon Archer notched the visiting side's third goal just minutes before the full-time whistle to help Braintree collect all three points on the road.
