Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

Dorchester and Newport County played out an eight-goal thriller in another exciting Blue Square South Saturday afternoon.

Bishops Stortford 4-0 Cambridge City

Greg Pearson was the hero at Woodside Park as he netted an unprecedented four times to kill off a hapless Lilywhites side 4-0.

Bishops continued their push for a play-off place with Pearson giving the home side the lead in the 15th minute.

Referee S Feerick pointed to the penalty spot a mere 9 minutes later and the striker made no mistake beating keeper Martin Davies from the spot, doubling his tally.

The visitors underwent an equally hard second half, as their back four were comprehensively outplayed.

Pearson netted another in the 55th minute, before going on to convert another penalty in the 72nd minute.

The defeat places City in a perilous position, languishing close to the dreaded drop-zone.

Bognor Regis Town 1-1 Basingstoke

Fourth-placed Basingstoke had to settle for a point at Nyewood Lane after the home side squandered a first-half lead.

Scott Harris awarded the relegation touted Rocks the lead in the 32nd minute.

Town looked certain to hold on for the much-needed three-points, but were undone in the 66th minute through a James Taylor strike.

The visitors will be happier with the point as they continue their crusade for a coveted play-off place.

Bromley 1 -2 Fisher Athletic

Fisher Athletic pulled off a shock 2-1 away win against promotion hopeful's Bromley at Hayes Lane.

The home side were put on the back foot in the 27th minute when Wesley Thomas found the back of the net for the visitors.

Jeff Goulding doubled Fisher's lead in the 61st minute and it seemed unlikely that the Ravens would get onto the scoresheet.

In the 86th minute though, Danny Hockton pulled one back for Bromley and a late equaliser seemed imminent.

Athletic's defence held on to ensure they walked away with all the spoils while the Ravens will rue their inability to secure vital home points.

Dorchester 3-5 Newport County

Newport County walked away victorious after an eight goal thriller, which saw eight different goalscorers at the Avenue Stadium.

Relegation candidates Dorchester were punished for ill-dicipline early on when Ian Hiller beat Magpies keeper Bradley Middleton from the penalty spot in the 7th minute.

The first-half ended as a dour 1-0 affair, but it was after the break that the floodgates opened much to the delight of 615 spectators.

Charlie Griffin doubled the visitors lead in the 52nd minute, only for the home side to pull one back through Wesley Fogdon five minutes later.

The midfielder then gave his side a glimmer of hope in the 68th minute, levelling the scores at 2-2.

The home fans will feel aggrieved that the Magpies' fight which saw them score two goals in the space of 10 minutes thwarted by Jermaine Clarke in the 70th minute.

Eastleigh 1-2 Eastbourne Borough

Second placed Borough closed the gap on league-leaders Lewes after staging a quick comeback to defeat Eastleigh 2-1 at Silverlake Stadium.

Andrew Forbes gave the home side the lead in the 56th minute, but celebrations turned to disbelief after the Sports scored two goals twelve minutes later.

Andy Atkins pulled one back for the visitors in the 66nd minute and Allan Tait quelled the hopes of the Spitfires sharing in the spoils in the 68th minute.

The quick comeback proved Borough's promotion credentials while Eastleigh need to string together a series of wins to secure a play-off place.

Hampton and Richmond 4-1 Hayes & Yeading

Hampton and Richmond turned on the style as the thrashed Hayes & Yeading on Saturday afternoon.

Graham Harper opened the scoring for the home side in the 26th minute, but James Mulley equalised shortly before half-time.

Shaun McAuley put the home side back into the lead on 46 minutes.

Kevin McIntosh and Quarm rounded off the scoring in the second-half.

Lewes 4-0 Havant and Waterlooville

Lewes took their game to another level as the put Havant and Waterlooville to the sword.

Andrew Drury grabbed a hat-trick and Simon Wormull put the icing on the cake as the home side totally domintated a fixture which was said to be an even contest before a ball had been kicked.

Maidenhead 1-1 Sutton United

Sutton United held Maidenhead at York Road on Saturday thanks to a late Craig Dundas strike.

Manny Williams put the home side into the lead in the 30th minute of the game.

The second-half was all the host's and when Dundas popped up in the 90th minute to score, the home side felt as if they had been robbed.

St Albans 1-1 Braintree Town

James Baker was the saviour for Braintree as the visitors left St Albans with a point.

Paul Bruce handed the Clarence Park side a first-half lead, only for Baker to strike three-minutes from time.

Welling United 2-2 Thurrock

Michael Malcolm scored a late equaliser as Thurrock left Park View Road with a point.

Che Stadhart put the visitors into the lead in the 14th minute, but Ellis Remy hit back for the home side just five minutes later.

Orlando Smith added a second for the host's in the 25th minute, but Malcolm was the visitor's hero when he popped up to score in the 80th minute.

Weston-Super-Mare 0-2 Bath City

Two second-half goals sealed a well-earned victory for Bath at the Woodspring Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Darren Edwards opened the scoring for the away side in the 51st minute and Lewis Hogg put the icing on the cake three-minutes from time.
