AFC Wimbledon's charge towards promotion continued with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a plucky Basingstoke side on Friday.

Dons defender Alan Inns grabbed the only goal of the game for the home side in the 20th minute.

The Dons now find themselves on 83 points with three matches left to play and are looking the clear favourites to claim the title and the automatic promotion place.

Thurrock's survival hopes took yet another blow when they failed to find the back of the net during a 0-0 draw at Welling.

The single point does not look good enough on the grand scale of things with just four games left to play for the Fleet.

Chelmsford moved a step closer to securing a play-off spot with a 1-1 draw against St Albans.

Skipper Andy Duncan put the home side in the lead on 20 minutes with a neat finish.

However, the hosts could not hold on to their advantage for the remainder of the match as the Saints equalised on 65 minutes thanks to Simon Martin.

Dorchester's bid to move further away from the relegation zone hit a blip on Saturday afternoon when they were beaten 1-0 by Newport County.

Craig Reid was the hero of the day for the visiting side when he scored the only goal of the game 13 minutes from the end.

The Magpies are now just four points above the drop zone after Thurrock picked up a point on Friday.

Hampton & Richmond kept their title hopes alive with a 2-1 victory over Braintree Town.

The Beavers dominated the first half and took a 2-0 lead into the break thanks to goals from Dean Wells and Nana Badu.

Braintree set up a nervy last ten minutes for the home side when Michael Shinn pulled a goal back, but the hosts had enough in defence to make sure they claimed the three points.

Maidenhead United moved to within six points of the play-off places with a 2-0 win over struggling Bognor Regis Town.

A goal in each half from Mustafa Tyriaki did the trick as United kept their promotion dream alive.
