Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

Braintree Town and Basingstoke remain the only unbeaten sides in the Blue Square South after home wins over Maidenhead United and Chelmsford respectively.

One goal in each half was enough to secure Braintree a 2-0 victory with striker Sean Marks scoring in the 14th minute before midfielder Tom Tejan-Sie's 54th minute effort.

Basingstoke had to fight for their three points though as they came from a goal down to win 2-1. Danny Hockton made his mark, also in the 14th minute, before Matthew Warner equalised after 36, with Robbie Rice's winner coming just seven minutes after the restart.

Newly-promoted Dover made light work of their opposition as they beat Dorchester 4-1, although the scoreline flattered the hosts somewhat with two goals in stoppage time. Adam Birchall grabbed a brace, with his first coming in the 15th minute before his second moments before the final whistle.

Before that however, Jamie Gleeson had grabbed a first half equaliser in the 38th minute. But Nicky Southall restored the Whites' lead in the 76 minute before Birchall and Shaun Welford added to the scoreline in the dying moments.

Staines Town weren't quite as successful after finding themselves on the wrong end of a 2-1 scoreline. Elliot Onochie's seventh minute strike was perhaps premature for the newbies, who failed to add or even hold on to their lead as they allowed Havant and Waterlooville's Mustafa Tyriaki in on 26 minutes before Manny Williams settled the tie four minutes before the break.

Fans to the Wessex Stadium witnessed an eight goal thriller but the home support wouldn't have enjoyed it too much as six of those goals we re scored by the opposition and most by Charlie Sheringham, who bagged five as Bishop's Stortford ran out 6-2 winners over Weymouth.

Matty Hale's side have now conceded 11 goals in two games after losing 5-0 to Eastleigh on Wednesday.

Danny Harris' opening goal on four minutes set the tone although no one could have predicted the goal glut.

Sheringham didn't wait long to get off the mark, scoring his first in the 10th minute. The son of former England forward Teddy Sheringham clearly has an eye for goal and was again on target in the 23rd minute.

Matt Thorne pulled one back for the Terras after 31 minutes but Sheringham got his hat-trick in the 52nd minute to increase his sides' second half lead. Jake Reid's strike in the 73rd minute made it 4-2 but further goals in the 86 and 90th minutes gave no doubt as to who the match ball belonged to.

Elsewhere, St Albans beat Eastleigh 2-1 thanks to two penalties from Drew Roberts in the 45th and 81st minutes. Shaun McAuley's 66th minute effort had drawn the away side level but they failed to match their midweek performance and find any more goals.
