Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

Thurrock and Eastleigh played out a five-goal thriller, while Dover stole the show in an eight-goal epic against Weston-S-Mare in the pick of Saturday's Blue Square South action.

The Fleet were inspired by a David Bryant hat-trick as the forward ensured the visitors would leave Ship Lane empty handed.

Anthony Riviere opened the scoring for the Spitfires after 12 minutes, but Bryant cancelled out the effort on the half-hour mark.

Just eight minutes later, Eastleigh were back in the lead courtesy of Tom Jordan, but the celebrations didn't last long as the Fleet forward struck again on 66 minutes and shortly before full time to hand Thurrock maximum points.

The result sees Fleet jump to third spot, level on points with early league leaders Dover, who routed Weston-S-Mare 5-3.

Defender Adie Harris got the visitors off to the best possible start at Perry's Crabble Stadium after just eight minutes, but James Rogers levelled matters with 15 minutes on the clock.

Lee Browning changed the complexion of the game again just five minutes later, when he fired the Whites in front. Sammy Moore struck and Francis Collin converted a spot kick before half time to leave the Seagulls facing a three-goal deficit. A minute later though Josh Llewellyn netted to give the visitors some hope, before Darren Mullings reduced the difference to just one goal after 52 minutes. It looked like Andy Gurney's men would record a remarkable comeback, but Shaun Welford struck on the 63-minute mark as Dover marched to the top of the table.

It was Braintree who were at the summit before hosting Havant and Waterlooville, but after a 2-0 defeat, the Iron have fallen to fifth. Manny Williams netted both goals for the Hawks, the first coming after ten minutes and his second strike ensuring all the spoils ten minutes from time.

Meanwhile, over at the Newport Stadium, Chelmsford were given a lesson in football as Newport County routed them 4-0.

Sam Foley kicked off proceedings in the 34th minute, before Kevin Cooper joined the party ahead of the half-time whistle. Paul Cochlin added the third in the 73rd minute, before Craig Reid worsened the visitors woes shortly before full time.
