Saturday's Blue Square South Wrap

Newport County maintained their two point lead at the top of the Blue Square South standings as they overcame St Albans 1-0 at Wheatsheaf Park on Saturday.

The Exiles grabbed the only goal of the game courtesy of midfielder Charlie Henry's 69th minute winner.

Dover kept the pressure on the league leaders as they overcame bottom-of-the-tableWeymouth 2-1 at The Wessex Stadium. The Whites were 2-0 up by the 27th minute courtesy of Jon Wallis and Shaun Welford only for the hosts to grab a consolation effort in the 88th minute from Jake Reid.

Thurrock maintained their third-place position in the league as they thrashed Dorchester 5-2 in front of their home fans. The Magpies found themselves in the lead after two minutes when Matt Groves opened the scoring but goals from Fola Orilonishe, Matt Bodkin and Leon McKenzie put the hosts 3-1 up at the break. Further efforts from Leon Lalite and David Bryant made the score 5-1 to The Fleet but is was Phil Walsh who grabbed the last goal of the game for the visitors.

The battle of the two sides in the relegation zone ended in a Dave Gilroy inspired Weston-S-Mare beating Lewes 3-2 at their home ground. Gilroy netted himself a hat-trick while Fred Foreman and Andrew Pearson twice tried to keep their visiting side in the game. The Seagulls now find themselves out of the drop-zone as Dorchester replace them due to their defeat at the hands of Thurrock.
