Saturday's Blue Square North and South Wrap

Blue Square North leaders Droylsden dropped points away to Eastwood Town, which leaves them level on points with second-placed Southport.

The Bloods have now played a game more than the Sandgrounders, who were occupied by the FA Cup this weekend.

Peter Knox gave Eastwood a 2-0 lead with goals after 25 and 32 minutes with Paul Brown earning his side a mere consolation goal with his effort after 75 minutes.

Town remain three points behind the league leaders but also with a game in hand.

Corby held on for all three points as they defeated Stafford Rangers 3-2 this Saturday. Leon Mettam grabbed an early brace with two strikes after six and ten minutes before Ben Mills got a goal back in the 80th minute. Paul Mayo then regained his sides' two-goal cushion but a late goal from Levi Reid ensured a tense finish for the newly-promoted side.

Stalybridge continued their push for promotion with a hard-fought 3-1 win over struggling Gainsborough at the Northolme.

Nathan Peat had put his side in the lead via a 16th minute penalty but Trinity fought back to claim all three points. Warren Peyton nicked an equaliser on the stroke of half time with Joe O'Neill's second-half brace securing the tie.

The striker put his side in the lead after 57 minutes before adding a second with just three minutes of the match remaining.

Elsewhere, Solihull Moors made a case for their league survival with a 1-0 win over fellow bottom-feeders Harrogate Town. Solihull are just one point clear of the drop zone with Town just one point better off than the two sides below them.

Ryan Beswick was given the responsibility of giving his side all three points after the Moors were awarded an 89th minute penalty. It was an opportunity he didn't spurn as he buried the spot kick, much to the delight of the home support.

In the only other fixture in the Blue Square North this Saturday, Farsley Celtic edged out Vauxhall Motors 1-0 with Lee Ellington netting his a 90th minute winner.

Basingstoke edged closer to the summit of the Blue Square South with a 2-1 win over bottom-club Weymouth. Just four points separates the Dragons, who occupy fourth place, from Newport County with Dover and Thurrock in second and third place respectively.

Fraser Franks was first to find the back of the net, after 15 minutes with Phil Ruggles adding a second from the penalty spot after 45 minutes. Jordan Rose pulled one back for the Terras but with the goal coming after 87 minutes, there was no time for the visitors to push on an steal a point from the tie.

Lewes pulled off an upset by beating Bishop's Stortford at home. 15 places separate the two teams but it was a display that belied their lowly position.

Glen Southam got his side off to a good start with his 30th minutes goal but Stortford failed to build on their lead and allowed Andrew Pearson in just eight minutes later before Sam Crabb popped up with a winner in the 62nd minute.

Weston-Super-Mare will be the happier of the two sides as they held Maidenhead to a 0-0 draw away from home. The Seagulls are languishing near the foot of the table while the Magpies are sitting fairly well off in eight place, just three points adrift of fifth-placed Bishop's Stortford.
