Saturday's Blue Square South wrap

Dover kept the pressure on league-leaders Newport County by overcoming Dorchester 3-1, while Hampton and Richmond hit four unanswered goals past Maidenhead in the pick of the Saturday's action.

Second-placed Dover ensured that the race for the Blue Square South title would remain tight as they closed the gap on County to just two points.

Frannie Collin opened the scoring against the Magpies in the 56th minute after a goalless first half. It didn't take long for the visitors to extend their lead as three minutes later, Adam Birchall converted James Rogers' header, which was sent across goal.

With the points all but wrapped up, Collin netted his second of the night after a lapse in defensive and ensured Dover would walk away with maximum points in the 83rd minute. Just before the final whistle, Andre McCollin pulled a goal back, but it was too little too late for Dorchester.

Leaders Newport boast a game in hand over Dover and will be confident of keeping them away from the top spot following their 1-0 victory over a gritty Basingstoke side. Jamie Collins' first-half effort was enough to keep his side at the summit.

Ian Hodges was the star of the show as Hampton & Richmond routed Maidenhead 4-0 at the Beveree Stadium. The forward bagged a treble for himself with two goals in the first half and a third on the 60-minute mark. Dean Wells added the finishing touches nine minutes from time to move closer to a top-ten spot.

Play-off chasing Bishop's Stortford were too good for struggling Weston-S-Mare, who were beaten 3-1 in their own backyard. The Seagulls got off to the better start and found themselves head after the interval courtesy of Dave Gilroy.

Charlie Sheringham evened matters just four minutes later, before Ashley Nicholls fired the visitors into the lead on 70 minutes. Hassan Sulaiman made sure of the three points on the stroke of full time, to leave Weston in the bottom three.
