Saturday's Blue Square Football Wrap

Chester City took a step closer to a positive points tally with a 3-1 victory over Grays Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Chadwick grabbed a brace as City collected a much-needed three points away from home.

In Blue Square North, Droylsden strengthened their play-off hopes with a 2-1 victory away at Vauxhall Motors thanks to a Tony Gray brace.

Southport continued their good form with a 2-0 win at Workington, while Gloucester climbed away from the relegation zone with a 2-0 win against Hyde United.

In Blue Square South, Newport County's race for promotion continued with a 2-1 win away at promotion rivals Dover.

Craig Reid scored twice to make sure County stay ahead of Dover.

Thurrock kept up the heat on the leaders with a well-earned 3-1 victory at Weston-Super-Mare, while Lewes boosted their hopes of survival with a 1-0 win over Hampton & Richmond.

Basingstoke and St Albans could not be seperated as their encounter ended in a 1-1 draw.
