Dean Holdsworth's Newport County proved just why they are at the top of the table with a massive win against Basingstoke Town on Tuesday evening.
Newport County took a step closer towards sealing automatic promotion with a 5-1 victory over Basingstoke Town at the Camrose.
Midfielder Danny Rose got the Exiles off to a flying start as he found the back of the net in the ninth minute and again in the 14th minute.
On-loan forward Stuart Douglas further extended their lead in the 39th minute but Basingstoke defender Robert Rice pulled one back from the penalty spot just two minutes later.
However, striker Sam Foley restored Newport's three-goal cushion four minutes after the half-time break and defender Martyn Giles completed the rout with an 84th minute effort.
Havant and Waterlooville moved up to mid-table despite being held to stalemate by Hampton & Richmond Borough at Beveree Stadium.
The Hawks opened the scoring through Mustafa Tiryaki in the 38th minute but striker Dave Tarpey popped up in the 71st minute to rescue a point for the Beavers.
Steve Castle's St Albans City moved up to 12th place in the league standings after seeing off the challenge of Dorchester Town at Clarence Park.
Striker Drew Roberts put the Saints ahead from the penalty spot in the ninth minute but the Magpies drew level with a penalty of their own in the 34th minute thanks to Matt Groves.
However, it was Roberts who had the last say as he found the back of the net again in the 38th minute to help his side claim all three points.
Relegation-threatened Weston-super-Mare claimed point after playing to 3-3 draw with Bromley at Woodspring Stadium.
However, they will be bitterly disappointed with the result as goals from Danny Burnell (6, 70) and Tom Evans (62) had put them in a commanding lead.
Bromley midfielder Ashley Carew pulled one back from the penalty spot in the 73rd and striker Warren McBean further reduced the deficit just four minutes later.
Midfielder Ryan Hall found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to help his side complete a memorable comeback.
Staines Town moved up to third place in the league standings with 2-1 victory over rock-bottom Weymouth at the Wessex Stadium.
Howard Newton fired the visitors ahead in the 34th minute but midfielder Matt Groves put Weymouth back on even terms in the 41st minute.
However, Newton had the last say as he popped up just moments before the half-time break to seal the win for Staines.
