Chelmsford missed out on the chance to clinch a play-off place as they lost 2-1 at Hampton & Richmond on Tuesday night.
The Clarets needed a point to secure a play-off berth but goals from Dave Tarpey and Barrie Matthews ensured that they would have to wait a bit longer as the home side ran out victors.
Havant and Waterlooville did their play-off hopes the world of good by thrashing Weston-Super-Mare 6-0.
In what was a completely dominant performance from The Hawks, Wes Fogden grabbed a brace while Mustafa Tiryaki, Ian Simpemba, Manny Williams and Steven Walker scored a goal apiece.
Woking moved into the play-off places thanks to a determined 2-1 victory over Maidenhead Utd.
The Cards left it late to seal the victory, coming from a goal down to grab the points in the final fifteen minutes.
Kieron St Aimie put the home side ahead from the penalty spot in the 29th minute, but an own goal from Tom Baddeley and a Giuseppe Sole spot kick ensured the Cards would go home with three important points.
