Saturday's Blue Square Bet South Wrap

Bishop's Stortford gave their Blue Square Bet South survival hopes a massive boost with a 4-0 hammering of relegated St Albans City on Saturday.

The Bishops netted early on through Steffan Gaisie, after just seven minutes, and kept the goals coming, through Aiden Palmer, after 33 minutes, Dean Rance a further three minutes later, with Danny Morgan rounding off the scoring with nine minutes of the match remaining.

The result lifted new manager Ian Walker's side out of the drop zone on to 39 points, just three points above Thurrock and Lewes.

St Albans City, whose fate has already been sealed, remain on 23 points from 40 matches.

Lewes also picked up three points as they defeated Havant & Waterlooville 2-1 but remain in the danger zone with just two games left to play.

Mustafa Tiryaki thought he had earned Havant a draw when he netted in the 67th minute to cancel out Andy Hutchinson's 42nd-minute opener, but Ben Hunt popped up with a minute of regulation time to play, to seal the priceless win.

The Hawks have nothing left to play for in 10th place with 56 points, some 16 points off the play-off places.

Maidenhead United had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Dorchester Town that may just be good enough to see them beat the drop.

Jefferson Louis netted from the penalty spot on 48 minutes only for Kyle Critchell to find an equaliser with 66 minutes gone.

United moved on to 40 points with Dorchester Town one point better off, although having played a game more.

Second-placed Farnborough, meanwhile, slipped up as they lost 2-1 to Woking to give the Cards renewed hope of a play-off place.

While Boro are three points clear of Ebbsfleet, they have let a commanding lead slip in recent weeks after a number of poor results.

Elvis Hammond opened the scoring for Woking in the 21st minute with Michael Jordan then guilty of an own-goal with 51 minutes gone.

Dean McDonald pulled a goal back with six minutes left to play but it was too little too late and ended up being nothing more than a consolation goal.

And finally, Weston-super-Mare picked up another three points with a 2-1 win over Staines Town to secure their place in mid-table with Sahr Kabba (83) and Kane Ingram (pen 90) on target to cancel out a 63rd-minute Elliott Onochie effort.

All the results in full:

Bishop's Stortford 4-0 St Albans City

Farnborough 1-2 Woking

Havant & Waterlooville 1-2 Lewes

Maidenhead United 1-1 Dorchester Town

Weston-super-Mare 2-1 Staines Town
