Ebbsfleet United made a speedy return to the Blue Square Bet Premier with a 4-2 victory over Farnborough Town at Rushmoor Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors were up by three goals to nil on 73 minutes but two late goals gave Farnborough hope before Calum Willock popped up at the death to put the result beyond doubt.
Michael West continued his rich vein of form by firing Ebbsfleet into the lead on 28 minutes and the visitors doubled their advantage in the 52nd minute thanks to Ricky Shakes.
West converted his second of the afternoon in the 73rd minute to give his side a seemingly unassailable lead.
However, the Fleet were caught napping in the closing stages of the contest as two goals in the space of two minutes ensured a tense finale.
Daryl McMahon scored Farnborough's first on 87 minutes and Paul Booth scored their second just two minutes later.
Farnborough would be forgiven for thinking this was the start of an amazing comeback but those hopes were soon dashed as the 29-year-old forward scored in the dying moments of the game to make it 4-2.
