Blue Square South weekend preview

Lewes and Bath City head into this weekend's Blue Square South fixtures at the top of the table with 13 points each after five games.

Saturday 1st September 2007

Basingstoke v Eastbourne Borough: Basingstoke have made a decent start to the campaign with two wins, one draw and two defeats and they face Eastbourne Borough at The Camrose Ground. Eastbourne are currently unbeaten and in fine form after three wins and two defeats and lie in fifth place with 11 points.

Eastbourne should get at least a point.

Bishop's Stortford v Dorchester: Bishop's Stortford are fourth in the table and unbeaten after three wins and two draws. They face Dorchester at Woodside Park, who are 15th after one win, one draw and three defeats so far this season.

This looks like a home win for Bishop's Stortford.

Bromley v Hayes & Yeading: Bromley have made a solid start to the new campaign, with two wins, two draws and one defeat and are 7th going into Saturday's fixture. By contrast, Hayes & Yeading have started badly, with two draws and three defeats so far this season and Bromley are the favourites.

Blue SQ have odds of 16/1 on the visitors winning 2-1.

Eastleigh v Sutton Utd: Eastleigh are in fine form after four wins and a defeat so far this season, and lie 3rd in the Blue Square South table with 12 points. Eastleigh face struggling Sutton Utd at Silverlake Stadium, who are second from bottom after two draws and three defeats.

Eastleigh look sure to win this game.

Hampton & Richmond v Cambridge City: Hampton & Richmond have made a decent start with two wins, a draw and two defeats and will be looking to build on their 0-0 draw against Hayes & Yeading on Monday and 1-0 win over Newport County on Saturday. Cambridge City have been inconsistent, winning two and losing three so far this season.

A draw looks the best bet.

Havant and Waterlooville v Thurrock: Havant and Waterlooville have looked good so far this season, with two wins, two draws and a defeat for The Hawks. They take on Thurrock at Westleigh Park, who are struggling with one win, one draw and three defeats so far this season.

Havant and Waterlooville should take all three points.

Maidenhead Utd v Bognor Regis Town: Maidenhead Utd face Bognor Regis Town in an early-season six-pointer at York Road. Maidenhead have just four points on the board after one win, one draw and three defeats so far this season. Bognor Regis Town have won one and lost four so far.

This encounter could end all square.

St Albans v Fisher Athletic: St Albans are bottom after five games, with two draws and three defeats and they need a win fast. They take on Fisher Athletic at Clarence Park, who are 6th in the table with three wins and two defeats.

Fisher are the safe bet here.

Welling v Bath City: Welling have won one, drawn one and lost three so far this season and they'll find it tough against joint league leaders Bath City, who are unbeaten so far this season with four wins and a draw.

In their current form, Bath should take the points.

Weston-Super-Mare v Braintree Town: Weston-Super-Mare take on Braintree Town at Woodspring Stadium in this mid-table clash. Weston-Super-Mare have won two, drawn one and lost two, while Braintree have won one, drawn three and lost one so this game is sure to be a close affair.

A draw looks most likely.

Sunday 2nd September 2007

Lewes v Newport County: Lewes take on Newport County in the final Blue Square South game of the weekend. Lewes are top of the table with four wins and a draw, while Newport County have started the season well with two wins, two draws and a defeat, so the game promises to be an entertaining contest.

Lewes have to be the favourites for a win.
