Saturday's Blue Square South preview

League leaders Lewes play host to struggling Bognor Regis on Saturday afternoon while second-placed Eastbourne travel to Bishops Stortford.

Basingstoke v Fisher

Basingstoke will host play-off rivals Fisher at the Camrose Ground with the hope of denting the visitors' crusade.

The teams are separated by just one place in the Blue Square South standings, with seventh place Fish in better form than the 8th placed Dragons.

Francis Vines' men will aim to avenge the 4-1 loss they suffered at Champion Hill Stadium earlier in the season, but with three much-needed points at stake, Wayne Burnett's charges will be up for the challenge.

The Fish are impressively unbeaten in their six fixtures, while the Dragons have had mixed fortunes, recording two wins, three losses and one draw.

Bishops Stortford v Eastbourne Borough

High-flying Eastbourne Borough will travel to Bishops Sford aiming to close the six point gap on Blue Square South leaders Lewes.

The last time the two teams met, it ended in a 1-1 stalemate - earlier this season, but Gary Wilson's men will be looking to continue their three-game winning streak.

Bishops will be hoping to bounce back after their loss to Thurrock, that saw them lose ground on the play-off chasing pack.

Bromley v Sutton Utd

Bromley host rock-bottom Blue Square South side Sutton United with the Lilywhites looking to create a strong promotion push.

The hosts lost their last fixture 3-2 away at Hampton & Richmond and will target a comeback against the lowly U's.

Simon Osborn's men will be buoyed by the return of defender Tutu Henriques will be back to full fitness after suffering from a thigh strain.

Eastleigh v Dorchester

Dorchester travel to play-off chasing Eastleigh with "payback" in mind following their dismal display against fellow strugglers St Albans City.

Magpies Assistant-manager Paul Compton has told his players that they must repay the club and the supporters for their terrible showing this season in the Blue Square South.

He said: "The players owe the fans big time and should put in a performance that the fans can be proud of at Eastleigh. The players also owe the management staff and the owner Eddie Mitchell so it's payback time.

"I expect there to be a reaction from the players because last week's game was an embarrassment."

The Spitfires will be high on confidence knowing that the visitors go into the game without an away league victory in almost five months.

The relegation touted Dorchester will be boosted by the availability of their new signings.

Midfielder Danny Clay arrives on a month's loan from Salisbury City while ex-Torquay keeper Martin Horsell has agreed terms and striker Tom Clarke joins on a non-contract basis after his release by Yeovil Town.

The Magpies will be without forward Elliot Bent and keeper Simon Evans (both knee), but Compton is hoping that Alex Browne (shin) and Ivan Forbes (stomach) can pass fitness tests.

Long-term absentee Terry Parker has missed the entire season with a hernia problem and has had his contract at the county town club cancelled by mutual consent.

Lewes v Bognor Regis Town

Blue Square South leaders Lewes will attempt to solidify their dominance when they host struggling Bognor Regis Town.

The Rocks will be hoping not to suffer the same 5-0 fate they suffered against the Rooks in August and will aim to recover from their recent loss to Eastleigh.

Dan Beck remains a doubt for the visitors and may need a opertion on his right hand.

Sam Gargan will also not feature for Michael Birmingham's side following the end of his loan spell.

Thurrock v Bath City

Hakan Hayrettin's side face a tough tie against in-form Bath City, but Thurrock will be hoping to capitalise on the visitors' injury concerns.

City could be without influential centre-back Chris Holland, who is set to undergo surgery on a troublesome knee, which means John Relish will need to reshuffle his back four.

Steve Jones, Jim Rollo or Sekani Simpson are likely to partner Matt Coupe in central defence.

Striker Scott Partridge is likely to be in the squad for Thurrock after several potential loan deals fell through.

Welling v Cambridge City

Andy Ford will face his first game as Welling United manager against Cambridge City and will seek to end the Wings' miserable run of form.

The new boss plans to host a pre-match meeting with his squad and will attempt to better his side's fitness.

Ford said: "The players are not going to be too happy because I've brought them in early before the game.

"I'm going to take a session so we can work on our shape.

"But I'm not there to make them happy, I want to get a result."

Defender Chris Moore (suspension) returns to the squad but Ford will keep his selection a closely-guarded secret until before kick-off.

City's experienced striker Tom Youngs is expected to start, while there are no real injury concerns for the visitors.

Hayes & Yeading v Havant and Waterlooville

Havant and Waterlooville will need to continue their Anfield heroics against when they travel to Hayes & Yeading.

Garry Haylock's men will seek to recover from their recent setbacks, while the Hawks will be bursting with confident after their honourable performance against Liverpool.

Alfie Potter misses out for Shaun Gale's men as he is back in training with his parent club Peterborough United.

The Hawks won the home-leg of this fixture 4-1 and will be aiming for a repeat away showing.

Newport County v Hampton & Richmond

Newport County will host Hampton & Richmond in the most anticipated encounter in Saturday's Blue Square South fixtures.

Alan Devonshire's men will need to play out of their skins to hold onto their third spot as any slip ups will leave the play-off door wide open for the Exiles and Bath City.

Both teams have enjoyed back-to-back wins, while County remain unbeaten in their last six clashes.

The Beavers won the last head to head between the sides by a narrow 1-0 earlier in the season.

St Albans v Maidenhead Utd

Struggling St Albans will welcome Maidenhead Utd to Clarence Park with the hope of jumping out the dreaded drop-zone.

Both teams will be searching for some form of bouncebackability after recording recent losses.

Johnson Hippolyte will hope his charges can end a five-game winless streak against the relegation battlers.
