The Midweek Blue Square South Preview

Play-off contenders Chelmsford City and Hampton & Richmond Borough square off on Monday, while 4th-placed Hayes & Yeading face Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday.

Monday

Chelmsford City will be looking to strengthen their claim on a play-off berth when second-placed Hampton & Richmond Borough visit Melbourne Stadium on Monday evening.

Jeff King's side will be focused on making amends for their 4-1 defeat to the Beavers last month, while their opponents will undoubtedly be hoping for a repeat result.

Clarets Head Coach Glenn Pennyfather told his club's official website: "This is a big game for both sides.

"We thought the defeat at their place was unjust as we didn't play too well in the first half but dominated the second and gave away a couple of goals.

"Now we have the opportunity to avenge that result."

Chelmsford may have make do without Jon Keeling, who limped off during Saturday's 2-0 win against Worcester City with a hamstring problem.

Spencer Knight is on the treatment table with a leg injury, while Chris Moore has been diagnosed with a knee ligament injury.

Ian Cousins was rested on Saturday with a groin strain and will face a late fitness test on Tuesday.

Pennyfather added: "Keelo (Jon Keeling) suffered a slight hamstring strain which is disappointing as he seems to pick-up these little knocks quite often.

"Added to that the fact we have Chris out for a few weeks, things really are quite thin on the ground at the moment."

Alan Devonshire's Hampton & Richmond edged out Dorchester Town on Saturday to stay in the hunt for pole position in the league standings.

The Beavers now trail the league leaders by three points, but have one game in hand.

18th-placed Havant and Waterlooville entertain play-off hopefuls Welling at West Leigh Park as they look to open a bigger gap on the drop zone.

The Hawks hold a three-point cushion on the relegation places, while the Wings still have a mathematical chance of making the play-offs.

Tuesday

Bath City play host to 13th-placed Bishop's Stortford at Twerton Park on Tuesday night as they look to keep their play-off aspirations alive.

The Romans currently find themselves sitting in seventh place with 59 points from 37 fixtures after Saturday's 3-2 win against Braintree Town.

Braintree Town return to Cressing Road Stadium on Tuesday for the visit of rock-bottom Fisher Athletic, who are on the verge of having their relegation confirmed.

Play-off contenders Hayes & Yeading will be targeting another home victory on Tuesday when strugglers Weston-super-Mare visit Church Road.

United recorded a 2-1 win against mid-table Bromley on Saturday to extend their winning run to nine consecutive games, while the Seagulls were soundly beaten by St Albans City at Clarence Park.
