Hampton & Richmond v Chelmsford City

"It's a mountain we can climb" is the way Head Coach Glenn Pennyfather has described Chelmsford City's task in the second leg of their play-off battle against Hampton & Richmond Borough at the Beveree this Saturday, adding: "There was a hell of a lot of belief at training on Thursday."

The Clarets have to come from two goals down if they're to claw their way back into contention for a place in next Thursday's final showdown at either Eastleigh or Hayes & Yeading United but, with no away goals rule to be concerned about, Pennyfather believes City have what it takes to forge a dramatic comeback.

"We're going to have to do it the hard way," he commented after the Clarets were put through their paces following Tuesday's first-leg 3-1 defeat at Melbourne.

"But we've seen some big turnarounds in some big games and we know we have the quality to fight back. It's vital the supporters get right behind the lads and suck the ball into their net because, and I've said this before, their backing makes such a big difference."

City will have to contend with the hole left in the centre of midfield left by Dave Rainford, who was dismissed late in Tuesday's game and now begins an instant three-match ban.

But Jeff King's assistant isn't overly concerned with his unavailability, continuing: "We're not in a position to be able to worry. Obviously we'll miss Dave as he's been a revelation in midfield, has scored goals and was deservedly named Player of the Year. The midfielders we choose, though, will just have to do a job."
