Saturday's Blue Square South preview

Four teams will be looking to build on their 100% records so far, while another four teams will be looking to pick up their first points of the new Blue Square South season.

Braintree Town, Staines Town, Chelmsford City and Basingstoke Town all have six points from their first two fixtures, while Welling United, Weston-Super-Mare, Hampton & Richmond and Worcester City are proping up the table with zero points.

Chelmsford travel to Basingstoke, meaning that one of the sides, if not both, are sure to lose their perfect records so far.

The Clarets will be boosted ahead of the trip with news that Dave Rainford and Steve Ward will be available for selection come Saturday afternoon.

City boss Glenn Pennyfather told the club's official site: "I want us to win all our games. The people who say that they'd settle for seven out of their first twenty points are lying, and are probably saying that because they haven't taken them!

"Every manager wants to be top of the table and we will be doing our best to assume that position."

Town manager Frank Gray is relishing the test, telling The Basingstoke Gazette: "Chelmsford will be up there this season and, while we have started well, there is a long way to go.

"We know they will be a good side and it will be a tough game, but we did well at their place last season and will be looking to make it hard for them. It should be a good game because both teams will be looking to play, but we will not be standing off them."

Staines Town's fairytale start to the season continues with a home match against Havant and Waterlooville.

Steve Cordery's Swans have been in fantastic form and will hope that continues against Havant and Waterlooville, who have picked up four points from their opening two games and are also unbeaten.

Braintree Town are the fourth team to have a 100% and they will put that to the test against Maidenhead United, who have a single point from their two games.

While The Iron have made an excellent start to the campaign, assistant boss Jason Broom is refusing to get carried away.

Broom told This Is Total Essex: "We set ourselves little targets. We wanted to get our first point, then our first win and then our first home win and we've managed to do that in our first two games.

"We wanted a minimum of five points from out first three games and we've already got that but there's a long way to go.

"Look at Hull City last season in the Premier League, they had a great start and then just avoided relegation. I'm not saying that will happen to us but there's a long way to go. After 10 games we'll know better."

At the other end of the table, Welling United will be looking to get off the mark away to Bath City, while Weston-Super-Mare travel to Thurrock in search of their first points.

Bromley host Hampton & Richmond, who are the third club with zero points, but Worcester City are currently the most unlucky of the four as the sit bottom of the table

The Royals travel to Woking in search of a victory but it will be no easy task given that the Cards have played in the Blue Square Premier as recently as last season.

City boss Richard Dryden is determined to stop the rot at the club and pick up a valuable three points on Saturday.

He told Worcester News: "This league has been very erratic in the opening week. Teams are still settling down.

"Woking have brought in some new faces in the summer and kept a few from the side they got relegated with."
