Saturday's Blue Square South Preview

Top-of-the-table Newport County will be eager to continue their fine run of form when they travel to second-placed Chelmsford on Saturday.

The Exiles have been in fine fettle as they proved during midweek with a resounding 4-1 away win over Eastleigh on Wednesday.

But Dean Holdsworth's charges know they will have their hands full against a Clarets outfit who are looking to close Newport's 18 point lead at the top of the Blue Square South standings.

Third-placed Braintree Town face fifth-placed Dover at Cressing Road Stadium as the race for the play-off places hots up.

One point currently separates the two sides and both outfits will be desperate to come away with the three points.

The Iron laboured to a win over lowly Weston-S-Mare in midweek and will be hoping for an improved performance while the Whites will go into the tie with fresh legs after a week off.

Fourth-placed Thurrock will be looking to capitalise with their play-off rival facing each other as they entertain St Albans at Ship Lane.

Hakan Hayrettin's charges are sure to have their hands full against a Saints side that come into the tie brimming with confidence after winning their last two Blue Square South games against Maidenhead Utd and Weston-S-Mare.

Woking will be eager to bounce back after defeat to Thurrock last time out as they travel to St George's Lane to take on Worcester City.

The Loyals will also look to get back to winning ways following their loss to Havant and Waterloo last time out.

Staines Town make the trip to Bromley with both Blue Square South sides just outside the play-off places it promises to be an enticing fixture.

The Swans are on a charge as they remain unbeaten this year and they'll fancy their chances against the Ravens, who have managed just one point from their last three games.
