Blue Square Bet North and South preview

FC Halifax will fancy their prospects when they host Blyth Spartans in the Blue Square Bet North, while South leaders Woking should be tested by Sutton United on Saturday.

Blue Square Bet North

FC Halifax will expect to bolster their play-off ambitions when they entertain bottom club Blyth Spartans in the division's only fixture on Saturday.

The Shaymen, who are eighth on the table with 30 points, are seven behind the play-off places following their 2-1 victory at Workington on Tuesday.

Their opponents, with just 12 points, suffered their 11th defeat of the season in midweek - a 2-1 home reverse to high-flying Guiseley. Steve Cuggy's outfit are five points short of the relegation line but victory would lift them above Eastwood Town, who have played an extra game.

Blue Square Bet South

Leaders Woking will aim to reassert their dominance when they entertain high-flying Sutton United in one of three Blue Square Bet South fixtures on Saturday.

The Cardinals, recent 1-0 victors over Eastleigh, are six points ahead of second-placed Welling, who were held 1-1 at Tonbridge Angels last weekend.

United, in fifth spot on the table with 34 points, played to a goalless draw with Dorchester in their previous league engagement.

Eighth-placed Dover Athletic welcome lowly Bromley to Perry's Crabble Stadium. Nicky Forster's outfit hope to return to winning ways after losing 3-1 at third-placed Dartford.

The visitors, sitting just two points above the drop zone, were defeated by the same margin by mid-table Eastbourne Boro last time out.

Bottom club Thurrock will seek some relief when they make the trip to 14th-placed Eastleigh. The Fleet have won just three out of 18 games, most recently going down to fellow strugglers Staines Town at Ship Lane.

The defeat prompted Robbie Garvey's managerial resignation, with Lee Goodwin and Grant Gordon taking over the reins on a match-by-match basis.

Eastleigh's loss, mentioned above, to Woking ended a four-match unbeaten streak.
