Tuesday's North and South preview

FC Halifax host play-off chasing Gainsborough in the Blue Square Bet North, while Dartford visit Staines Town in the Blue Square Bet South on Tuesday.

Starting up north, Halifax can move into second-place should they impress against The Holy Blues at The Shay. The Shaymen, on 48 points, are a point behind Stalybridge and 13 off leaders Hyde, who have played three more games.

Neil Aspin's outfit defeated Vauxhall Motors 3-1 in their previous league test, while their upcoming opponents - on 44 points in sixth place - edged Histon in a five-goal thriller over the weekend.

Guiseley, in fourth on 47 points, visit relegation-threatened Vauxhall Motors fresh off a 4-3 success at Droylsden's expense. The Motormen, on 26 points, sit just above the drop zone following their loss to Halifax.

Seventh-placed Altrincham enter their clash with Blyth Spartans on a high after dismantling lowly Harrogate Town 5-2 last time out. The second-bottom Spartans went down to Corby 2-1 in their previous outing.

Droylsden, in 11th place with 34 points, will seek to inflict more misery on bottom club Eastwood Town. The Bloods are a hefty 20 points ahead of the Badgers despite their recent reverse to Guiseley. The visitors, level with the Spartans on 14 points, lost 1-0 to Colwyn Bay last week.

In the south, fourth-placed Dartford make the trip to struggling Staines Town.

The Darts, who trail pacesetters Woking by 14 points, beat Hampton and Richmond Borough 3-1 in their previous engagement. The Swans, in 19th spot, were last defeated 1-0 by high-flying Chelmsford.

Eastleigh, in 13th spot, welcome 15th-placed Salisbury, with two points separating the pair. The hosts were ousted 1-0 at Basingstoke this past Saturday, while the Whites enjoyed an impressive 2-0 victory over Woking.
