Saturday's Blue Square Bet South preview

Leaders Woking host high-flying Dorchester, while bottom club Thurrock face lowly Farnborough in the Blue Square Bet South on Saturday.

The Cardinals, who enjoy an 11-point cushion at the summit, aim to reassert their dominance after recently needing a late winner to edge Boreham Wood 2-1. With 65 points, they are 23 ahead of their seventh-placed opponents, with Alan Knight's men drawing 1-1 with Dover in their previous league test.

At the other end of the table, ailing Thurrock enter their clash with Farnborough on the back of a 6-0 implosion at Dartford. Fleet have just 16 points - seven less than nearest strugglers Staines Town, and 13 behind 17th-placed Boro. The visitors ousted Basingstoke 1-0 last weekend thanks to a last-gasp decider from Phillip Page.

Welling United, in third place on 51 points, will fancy their prospects ahead of the trip to second-bottom Staines Town. The Wings were last held to a 1-1 draw by promotion rivals Chelmsford, while the Swans suffered a 2-1 reverse at Truro City.

Fourth-placed Chelmsford are two points behind Welling, and next entertain high-flying Weston-super-Mare. The visitors, in sixth spot with 43 points, should be eager to make amends for a 3-0 home defeat to Bromley.

Sutton United, in fifth, are likewise smarting from a heavy loss as they prepare for 18th-placed Eastbourne Borough. The Us were hammered 4-0 by Eastleigh last time out, with Bradley Bubb plundering a hat-trick for the Spitfires. The Sports also went down in their matching fixture, losing 2-0 to Maidenhead United at home.

Dover, in eighth spot with 41 points, visit battling Hampton and Richmond Borough after drawing 1-1 with Salisbury. The Beavers also recently earned a point in a 2-2 stalemate with Havant and Waterlooville, leaving them above Staines on goal difference.

Basingstoke and Truro City will collide at The Camrose, with just three points separating the mid-table rivals. The ninth-placed Dragons, as mentioned, stumbled at Farnborough, while the White Tigers edged Staines.

Tenth-placed Eastleigh, fresh off their demolition of Sutton, travel to Salisbury, who moved to 15th after their draw with Dover.

In other action, Bromley tackle Havant and Waterlooville, while Tonbridge Angels welcome Boreham Wood.

The 19th-placed Ravens can draw inspiration from their rout of Weston-super-Mare. The 16th-placed Hawks, as mentioned, previously shared the spoils with Hampton and Richmond Borough.

The Angels, in 12th spot, pummeled Eastbourne Borough 5-1 in their last league engagement. Tommy Warrillow will hope for a similarly impressive showing against the 13th-placed Wood, who slipped to 13th after their narrow defeat to Woking.
