Leaders Woking will look to reassert their dominance when they host third-placed Welling in the Blue Square Bet South on Saturday.
The Cardinals are eight points ahead of nearest rivals Dartford at the summit, and one ahead of the Wings, with Garry Hill's outfit thumping Dorchester 4-1 on Tuesday. Their upcoming opponents can, however, draw inspiration from a 1-0 victory over fellow high-flyers Chelmsford last weekend.
Dartford, held at ten-man Maidenhead in the week, have a game in hand on Hill's charges. Their next assignment comes in the shape of struggling Havant and Waterlooville, who were pipped 4-3 by Woking in their previous test.
Sutton United, in fourth place, entertain Chelmsford at Borough Sports Ground, with the visitors looking to bounce back from their narrow defeat to Welling. United drew 1-1 with Eastbourne Borough at the same venue on Wednesday.
Sixth-placed Dover Athletic will seek to make a statement after needing a late goal to draw at second-bottom Hampton & Richmond Borough earlier in the week. The Whites are set to meet eighth-placed Eastleigh, who could make no headway in a previous goalless draw at lowly Bromley.
Bromley's next test is against play-off chasing Basingstoke Town at the Camrose. Frank Gray's side are seventh in the standings, having shared the spoils with Dover last time out.
Dorchester, in ninth, will expect to inflict further misery on bottom club Thurrock in their clash at Ship Lane. The Fleet will no doubt hope the visitors' confidence is dented from the hiding they suffered at Woking. Thurrock picked up a point in a recent 2-2 draw at Weston-S-Mare. Nevertheless, they look destined for the drop as Hampton & Richmond are nine points richer with two games in hand.
Mid-table Tonbridge Angels next welcome 15th-placed Truro City, with the Angels labouring to a 1-1 draw at ailing Staines Town on Tuesday. The White Tigers enter proceedings fresh off a 2-1 success at Boreham Wood's expense.
There is little to separate Weston-S-Mare and Farnborough ahead of their meeting at Rushmoor Stadium. The pair are level on 44 points, with the Seagulls enjoying a superior goal difference. Craig Laird's men will naturally be chasing the maximum return after being held by Thurrock, as will Boro after their heavy 3-0 defeat at Dover.
Boreham Wood, in 13th place, make the trip to Salisbury City on the back of their mentioned loss to Truro City. The Whites ousted Staines Town 1-0 last week and can move a point ahead of the Wood with victory at the weekend.
In other action, Staines Town host Eastbourne in a six-pointer at Wheatsheaf Park, while Maidenhead United visit Hampton & Richmond.
The Swans, as mentioned, last drew 1-1 with Tonbridge Angels, placing them a point below 19th-placed Eastbourne, who held Sutton in midweek.
Both Maidenhead, in 16th, and Hampton & Richmond earned a creditable point in their recent fixtures with Dartford and Dover respectively.
