Ram Marwa
Hayes & Yeading got the reward that they were dreaming of when they defeated AFC Wimbledon 1-0 on New Year's Day.
United had been on the receiving end of a 5-0 Boxing Day hammering and were eager to put that memory behind them.
Ram Marwa secured his side the valuable three points when he headed home after 59 minutes.
The victory ended Wimbledon's unbeaten run of six league games and prevented the Dons from going fourth in the Blue Square Premier. Hayes & Yeading moved up into 14th place with 32 points from their 26 games.
The match started slowly with neither side a threat as Jon Main provided one of the only real notable chance of the first half. Main got into a good goalscoring position to head in Sam Hatton's cross, but he failed to make any significant contact.
Hayes defender Tom Cadmore tried his luck from a free-kick on the half-hour mark but his effort flew over the target.
Main found himself on the end of two good chances in the second half as he first poked a loose ball inches past the post before heading over Lewis Taylor's cross from eight yards.
Hayes increased the tempo as the match wore down with the score still tied at 0-0 and got the goal their efforts deserved when Marwa headed a cross-goal header into the back of the net.
