York 4-1 Hayes & Yeading

Richard Brodie's brace helped York City maintain their unbeaten home record with a 4-1 victory over Hayes & Yeading, moving them within five points of the Blue Square Premier League summit.

Chris Carruthers got the hosts off the mark from close range in the 25th minute when he turned in a Brodie cross. York went into the break with their one-goal advantage intact and continued to pile the pressure on the visitors' goal after the interval.

Two minutes into the second half, Brodie struck a superb volley to double the lead. He then made it 3-0 with a long-range strike after defender Tom Cadmore received his marching orders for bringing him down on the edge of the box

On the 83-minute mark, substitute Kevin Gall netted his first goal for the club. City were denied a clean sheet by Scott Fitzgerald, who made it 4-1 in injury time.

York bookings: Brodie, Mackin.
