Altrincham 3-2 Hayes & Yeading

Graham Heathcote's Altrincham mounted a comeback from two goals down to claim all three points against Hayes & Yeading at Moss Lane on Saturday.

The Robins were slightly fortunate to come away with the win as goalkeeper Stuart Coburn made a number of vital saves to keep his side in the contest.

The visitors broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Esmond James beat his marker on the right flank before sending in a cross-cum-shot which was prodded home at the far post by Toby Little.

Altrincham were still reeling from the opener when United struck again three minutes later.

Defender Adam Green advanced unchallenged down the left flank and unleashed an effort from 25 yards which took a deflection off Alty's Robbie Williams and flew into the back of the net.

However, Heathcote's side were up to the challenge and drew one back on the half-hour mark when Chris Senior met Shaun Densmore's 35-yard free-kick with a flicked header which found the bottom corner.

Altrincham drew level in the 40th minute when Nicky Clee's throw in was flick on by John McAliskey and Colin Little arrived at the back post to nod the ball home from close range.

Hayes & Yeading renewed their efforts after the break, yet despite dominating proceedings for extended spells, they finally fell behind in the 80th minute.

Alty's Williams started the move with a superb goal-line clearance and Little gave chase but lost the ball as a Hayes defender dispossessed him with a sliding challenge.

However, the ball fell to an unmarked Senior and with goalkeeper Simon Overland out of position, the striker calmly stroked the ball into an unguarded net from 25 yards.

Altrincham bookings: None.

Hayes & Yeading Bookings: None.
