Danny Wright
Histon and Hayes & Yeading could not be separated as their highly entertaining encounter at the Glassworld Stadium ended in a 3-3 draw.
In what was a topsy-turvy encounter, the home side left it late to secure a point.
The Stutes got the ball rolling in the 14th minute when Danny Wright scored from the penalty spot after he had been brought down in the area by United's Ed Harris.
Their lead did not last for very long, however, as the visitors clawed their way back in the 33rd minute.
Craig Watkins finished off a good team move with a splendid low drive to send the small contingent of travelling fans into raptures.
Matthew Langston ended their joy in the 41st minute with a fine header before the away side pulled level again through the impressive Andrejs Stolcers in the 62nd minute.
United then took the lead with nine minutes left on the clock thanks to a powerful Scott Fitzgerald header.
The visitors looked on course to claim a valuable victory until Lee Smith hit an absolute corker with a matter of seconds left on the clock to earn Histon a deserved share of the spoils.
