Jamie Hand
Hayes and Yeading moved up to fifth in the Blue Square Bet Premier table after beating Grimsby 2-1 at Blundell Park.
The Mariners had been unbeaten so far this season and looked to be controlling the game before Jamie Hand unleashed an unstoppable shot from long range which crashed in off the post to give the visitors a 19th-minute lead.
Hayes stopper Lee Harrison produced two saves to deny Grimsby's Michael Coulson before the striker succumbed to injury to be replaced by debutant Charles Ademeno.
In the second half, Harrison again denied the hosts by tipping over Alan Connell's header before Bradley Pritchard made it two for United following a swift counter attack.
Darran Kempson has a goal ruled out for offside as Grimsby pressured for a way back into the game but they could only break through in stoppage time when Connell eventually beat Harrison with a left-footed 25-yard strike.
Grimsby bookings: None
