Micky Mellon and Junior Brown
Blue Square Bet Premier new boys Fleetwood Town have signed long-time target Junior Brown from Northwich Victoria.
The 21-yr-old defender has signed a one year contract and will go up against veteran Alan Wright for the left-back slot.
"It's a great opportunity and I can't wait to get started with the new season. I'm looking for both the team and myself to do well in the Conference National," said Brown.
"The club has a quality left-back in place at the moment but I'm coming on the back of a good season. It's up to me to have a good pre-season and put myself ahead. Alan might not be looking to play the full season due to his age so chances will come. Whatever the situation, there is plenty for me to learn from him and his gain from his vast experience."
Brown is no stranger to Highbury having figured alongside Town's Simon Grand in the winning Vics side in February. "
"I know Simon already and I've played against Fleetwood a few times. I just want to prove myself to the fans and the rest of the lads and do my best for the club."
Manager Micky Mellon is pleased with his latest acquisition.
"Junior is a very exciting signing for the club. He's a player I've admired for some time and has all the attributes to do very well at Fleetwood Town.
Coming from Northwich Victoria, Brown is a player Mellon has seen a number of times in actions last term.
"He's a player I've admired for a long time. He's very athletic and very good on the ball. An important aspect for me is that he wants to progress and be a better footballer and that's another massive reason to bring him here."
Mellon has dipped into the transfer market during the close season having already brought in Peter Cavanagh and Ian Craney to Highbury. His next priority target is competition in goal for Danny Hurst.
"That's a situation that will be sorted quite soon. We're very much on target and are ready for the pre-season to start."
