Luton 2-0 Wrexham

Luton take a 2-0 advantage going into their Blue Square Bet Premier play-off semi-final second leg after overcoming Wrexham in the first leg on Thursday evening.

Two first-half goals secured the win with Andre Gray netting the opener on 23 minutes before Stuart Fleetwood added a second to no reply with just 30 minutes of the match played.

Luton started brightly with Joslain Mayebi making an early save to deny Fleetwood following a Robbie Willmott free-kick.

The Hatters maintained their positive start with Willmott next to try his luck with a shot just off target.

And it wasn't long before Gray hit the back of the net with a shot from inside the area that found the top right corner of the net after being played in by Fleetwood.

Gray then turned provider as he set up Fleetwood who buried his effort into the bottom left corner of the goal.

Mayebi was kept busy for the remainder of the half as he first denied Gray then a tame effort from Keith Keane.

Andy Morrell had Wrexham's best chance but Mark Tyler was equal to the effort that he tipped around the post.

Wrexham tried in vain to get back into the match after the break but struggled in possession with only Mathias Pogba looking threatening for the visitors.

A number of corners were wasted as Luton looked to add to their tally on the counter.

Gray drew an excellent save from Mayebi before Robert Kovacs saw his goal-bound effort cleared off the line Nat Knight-Percival.

Wrexham will need to put in a much improved performance in the second leg if they are to deny Luton a second successive play-off final appearance.
