Sincil Bank
York City moved into fourth place on the Blue Square Bet Premier table after recording a 2-0 victory over Lincoln City at Sincil Bank.
Matty Blair's shot and header in the second-half secured the victory for the Minstermen while condemning the Imps to a third successive league defeat.
New signing Karlton Watson went straight into David Holdsworth's starting line-up in place of the departed Richard Hinds, while Scott Brown made his debut for York.
Brown wasted no time getting into the swing of things for the visiting side with a pop at goal after three minutes but his shot flew just wide, before Jon Challinor had his shot saved by Lincoln keeper Joe Anyon.
Alan Power came close for the home team on the half-hour mark after combining with Chris Smith but curled just wide, then Conal Platt came close after doing well down the right.
Gary Mills' chargers produced an emphatic defensive display, not allowing Lincoln a single shot on goal during a scrappy first-half which ended 0-0.
York won a corner five minutes into the second half which was cleared by John Nutter, before Nicky Nicolau struck an effort wide for the Imps after he was picked out by Tyrone Thompson.
In the 64th minute the Minstermen were pushing forward again and took the lead when Tony Sinclair failed with a clearance and Blair drilled past Anyon from 12 yards.
Eight minutes later York doubled their advantage after Danny Pilkington received the ball down the flank and jinked inside onto his left-foot and put in a glorious cross for Blair to head in.
Lincoln seemed to have a great shout for a penalty in the final minute when Danny Parslow appeared to handle the ball in the box, but the ref rejected appeals and the fixture ended 2-0 to York.
