Kettering 1-0 Lincoln City

Kettering striker Aman Verma held his nerve to bury a penalty and help his side move clear of the relegation zone with a win over Lincoln City at Nene Park on Saturday.

The Poppies spurned a glorious chance early in the game, when Danny Mills could only side foot Patrick Noubissie's perfectly weighted cross wide of the goal.

It wouldn't be long before the home side went ahead however, with Verma converting from the spot in the 36th minute, after Richard Pacquette was found guilty of handling the ball in the area.

Pacquette would almost redeem himself minutes later, with a left-footed lob from 18 yards that dropped just fractionally wide of the goal with the goalkeeper out of the equation.

The Imps managed to create several more chances in the second half, but a lack of finesse in front of goal meant the game would end one nil against them.

The loss saw City return to losing ways following their victory over Southport last week, while Kettering recorded their second win on the trot.

Kettering Bookings: J Ifil, Kelly, Meechan.

Lincoln City: Thompson.

Ref: Wigglesworth.
