Miller inks deal with the U's

Cambridge United have announced the signing of 28-year-old attacking midfielder Adam Miller from Gillingham.

Manager Martin Ling is delighted with the signing and believes he will slot nicely into his midfield.

Ling told Cambridge First: "Adam's got the experience we needed to add to the midfield in the central area, as the burden was too heavy on Paul Carden last year.

"We have good young players who can slot in, but adding his experience to the mix will help make us a lot more solid in the centre of the team.

"He's got a decent scoring record and goals from midfield is an area we need to improve on, so along with the signing of Conal Platt last week this should now improve.

"Adam has had offers from League clubs but my patience and the ambition of the football club won the day. He's signed a three-year contract so it's a big commitment from both parties."

Miller says he still has what it takes to play in the Football League, but was happy to sign with United after talks with Ling.

"What impressed me most was Martin Ling and the way he went about things. He was upfront and honest which is a massive thing for me.

"He's treated me well from the first conversation I've had with him all the way through to signing.

"I know his pedigree, he's a League manager in my mind, and obviously did very well at that level and should still be a League manager.

"I believe I should still be a League player but the way Martin interacted with me and the ambition he and the club showed made me want to sign.

"I am an attacking, energetic experienced midfielder that's looking to chip in with my fair share of goals and get the club back into the Football League, where it should be."

"I've done the business at this level before and am confident I'll do the same again."
