Cambridge United's Rory McAuley has been ruled out for up to six weeks after undergoing knee surgery.
The 20-year-old, who made 27 Blue Square Premier appearances last season, required an operation after tearing cartilage in pre-season training.
U's boss Martin Ling told the club's official website: "Rory, being a young and determined man, will try to be back as quickly as possible.
"For the timescale he'll be out I don't feel we need any added cover."
