Nathan Abbey's fine performance between the poles helped Kettering hold visiting Crawley Town to a 1-1 draw on Tuesday night.
In a gritty affair at Rockingham Road, John Dempster cancelled out Danny Forrest's opener for the Red Devils, while Abbey pulled off a series of fine saves to deny the likes of Charles Ademeno, Glenn Wilson, Barry Cogan and Michael Malcolm from inflating the modest scoreline.
The game first ignited when Forrest converted a penalty in the 18th minute, giving his team a 1-0 lead at the break. Referee Robert Madley awarded the kick after James Jennings brought down Ademeno in the area.
The Poppies then equalised shortly after the break when Dempster nodded home a cross by Jennings.
Despite then coming under heavy pressure, the hosts managed to secure the point thanks largely to Abbey's heroics in goal.
The result leaves Kettering in sixth place on 66 points, while Crawley are just behind them due to an inferior goal difference.
Kettering booked: None.
Crawley Town booked: Ademeno, Wilson.
Att: 800.
