David Hockaday's Forest Green Rovers boosted their survival prospects with a 2-0 victory over fellow strugglers Histon at the New Lawn on Saturday.
The match started at a frenetic pace with both sides creating a whole host of opportunities to break the deadlock.
Histon goalkeeper Joe Welch was forced to make a brilliant save in the 27th minute to deny Daniel Powell's goalbound effort from 18 yards.
However, he was powerless to stop the Rovers from claiming the lead in the 39th minute when Jonathon Smith latched onto a pass from Powell before firing into the bottom-right corner from inside the area.
The Stutes were still reeling from the opener when the home side struck again five minutes later.
Tomi Ameobi freed up Reece Styche with a wonderful pass and the striker unleased a powerful effort at goal which rifled into the back of the net to make it 2-0.
Histon struggled to impose themselves on proceedings after the break and the Rovers held firm to claim an absolutely vital three points.
Forest Green bookings: Armstrong.
Histon bookings: None.
