Stevenage Borough

Forest Green v Stevenage

Forest Green Rovers will be in good spirits heading into Saturday afternoon's clash against high-flying Stevenage Borough at the New Lawn.

David Hockaday's side beat Blue Square Premier rivals Mansfield Town 2-1 in their midweek FA Cup clash but the Rovers boss knows his side are in for a stern test this weekend.

Midfielder Craig Rocastle is available for selection after being cup-tied for the Mansfield game.

Striker Ben Joyce could be handed a debut after joining Rovers on loan from Torquay United on Friday.

Hockaday told This is Gloucestershire: "We sat down as a group immediately after the game (on Tuesday), reflected on a great night and then turned our minds immediately to Stevenage.

"That might sound tough but it's what being a professional footballer is all about, especially with games coming thick and fast.

"Stevenage are similar to Mansfield - a big, powerful team with match-winners.

"We'll need to be every bit as good as we were on Tuesday to pick up a positive result."

Stevenage, meanwhile, will be looking to put their FA Cup misery behind them by bouncing back to winning ways on Saturday.

Defender Jon Ashton could miss out with a back injury sustained in the defeat to Port Vale, while striker Lee Boylan returns to contention after recovering from a knee injury.

Looking ahead to the clash, Striker Chris Beardsley told The Comet: "They have been doing well, they had a new manager come in since the start of the season and he seems to have turned it around.

"(They have) got a few new players in and going to Mansfield and winning 2-1 in the (FA) Cup you've got to be a decent side.

"We've got to go there and try to dominate them from the off and try to get a foothold in the game."
