Lee Boylan
Graham Westley's Stevenage Borough maintained the pressure on league leaders Oxford with a comfortable win against Forest Green Rovers on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors got off to a flying start as Lee Boylan headed home Andrew Drury's cross from the six yard line, after just seven minutes of play.
However, they were unable to add to their tally despite controlling proceedings for the rest of the first half.
Rovers goalkeeper Terry Burton did well to deny efforts from Yemi Odubade, Darren Murphy and Chris Beardsley to keep his side in the contest heading into the half-time break.
Stevenage should have doubled their advantage just after the break but Ronnie Henry's effort from 35 yards struck the post.
Boro had another chance to extend their lead in the 50th minute but Beardsley saw his close-range header strike the post.
Despite being unable to make their dominance count, Stevenage held firm to claim all three points at a rain-soaked New Lawn and keep the pressure on Chris Wilder's Oxford.
Forest Green bookings: Thorne (53).
Stevenage bookings: Murphy (69).
Ref: M Heywood (England).
