Tamworth 1-0 Stevenage Borough

Stevenage slipped to second in the Blue Square Premier standings after they lost 1-0 to Tamworth at the Lamb Ground on Saturday.

Chris Smith's strike in the first-half was enough to give the Lambs victory and move them up to twelfth in the table.

Smith netted in the 23rd minute of the tie when he scored from right in front following a goal-mouth scramble.

However, any hopes that Borough had of getting back into the tie were dashed in the 59th minute when Ronnie Henry was given his marching orders for a dangerous foul on Jake Sheridan.

Things went from bad to worse for the visitors as Darren Murphy was also sent off for a second bookable offense as Borough finished the game with nine men.

Tamworth bookings: Sheridan, Briscoe, Blackwood

Stevenage bookings: Griffin, Murphy, Long

Sent Off: Henry, Murphy
