Altrincham scored a dramatic, late equaliser to earn a share of the spoils with play-off hopefuls Rushden & Diamonds at Moss Lane on Saturday afternoon.
The Robins claimed the lead against the run of play in the 34th minute when Shaun Densmore latched onto an inviting pass from Peter Doran before firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Rushden had created a number of chances, with a Jefferson Louis effort hitting the crossbar, and Altrincham goalkeeper Stuart Coburn twice denying Lee Tomlin and another effort from Louis.
They finally got the breakthrough they were looking for in the 40th minute when a cross by Tomlin took a deflection off Altrincham defender Greg Young before finding the back of the net.
The Diamonds piled on the pressure after the half-time break and claimed the lead in the 73rd minute when Paul Terry found the target with a deflected left-footed shot.
However, the Robins didn't give up the fight and finally drew level in the fourth minute of injury time after a defensive mix-up in the Rushden defence.
Defender Curtis Osano failed to deal with a bouncing ball and Chris Denham latched onto the ball before lifting it over the stranded Dale Roberts to rescue a point for his side.
Altrincham bookings: Young, Denham.
Rushden bookings: Robinson, Byrne, Terry.
Ref: Richard Wigglesworth (South Yorkshire).
