Worcester City manager Carl Heeley is delighted to welcome George Clegg back to the Blue Square Bet North club.
The 29-year-old midfielder left for Hinckley at the end of the 2007/08 season after Worcester moved to the Blue Square South.
With his home being in Manchester, he wasn't able to commit to the new lengthy trips the club were forced to make as a result.
Clegg will now link up with City in order to prove his fitness.
An Achilles problem cut short his time with Hinckley and he had since committed himself to his university studies.
Heeley told Worcester News: "George is going to join us for pre-season. He's got a great affinity with the club and is a player we would be fools not to involve in pre-season.
"The only reason he left Worcester was because we went south.
"I am very hopeful he could be a bonus for us because I rate him quite highly.
"He had a year at Hinckley where he didn't really play because of an Achilles problem. He decided to take a break from football and go to university.
"He's now done that and we had a very constructive conversation. He wants to do pre-season with us and prove his fitness."
