Dripping Pan
Eastbourne Borough compounded Lewes' fears of the drop with a 2-0 victory at the Dripping Pan on New Years Day.
The first half produced very little in terms of genuine goalscoring opportunities, with both sides guilty of wasting good build-up play from their midfielders.
The match sprung to life in the second half when the visitors opened the scoring.
Ashley Barnes found the back of the net for Eastbourne in the 61st minute thanks to some impressive play from Nathan Crabb.
That goal opened up the game, with the home side now knowing that they had nothing to lose.
However, Lewes could not find an equalising goal and it was the visitors who managed to double their advantage in the dying embers of the match.
Crabb was the man who sent ripples through Lewes' net with a fine strike to seal the three points.
Lewes bookings: Tabiri 45+1, Keehan 88
